About the Course
This class does NOT require an audition.
Band 1 is designed for beginning students and is intended to be a 1-year class. By the end of the year, students should be able to play one octave of the concert Bb major and concert Eb major scales as well as the first five notes of 2 other scales from the band method book. Students are expected to practice daily throughout the week in order to periodically pass-off assignments. Parents should help students find time for practice at home. Students may not remain in a level one class for a second year, unless approved by the director.
Mrs. Gravitte has been teaching band and music lessons for 16 years. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Shorter University as well as an AA in General Music from Georgia Highlands College and a medical business degree from Dalton State College. Mrs. Gravitte is an active member in the Georgia Music Educators Association and is a member of both Kappa Delta Pi and Phi Theta Kappa honor societies.
