Last year, for the first time ever, we held a three day Summer Orchestra Camp. The response was so overwhelmingly positive, that we decided to expand this year. We added beginning brass, woodwind, and percussion camps, and were very happy with the results! Summer Music Camp gave students the opportunity to try out a new instrument in a fun, community environment. Students had the chance to try either trumpet, trombone, saxophone, flute, clarinet, percussion (drums), violin, viola, or cello. They learned about the instrument, some basic music concepts, and they learned to play a couple of pieces of music. Then on Wednesday, students got to demonstrate what they had learned for their parents. The Stonehaven School in Marietta was a wonderful host this year, and Ken Stanton Music donated the use of the instruments. If you missed it this year, or if you came and loved it, mark your calendars for next July 11-13.
