On Wednesday, October 30, Michelle Newbold, one of our North Metro parents, testified before the Georgia Senate Committee on Education and Youth to push legislation for Equal Access. The Equal Opportunity for Access in Education Act would give homeschool and private school families the option to enroll in extracurricular activities that are available to all methods of schooling.
North Metro Music Education was highlighted as an example of an organization that is already participating in Equal Access by offering extracurricular activities to all methods of schooling. Michelle gave details about
our Core and Marching programs and highlighted accomplishments that NMME has already garnered such as awards and trophies in competition, as well as All State qualifications among our students. She emphasized that programs like ours build stronger communities as they unite people from different educational models around a shared interest and skill set.
Thank you, Michelle, for representing NMME so well and supporting the cause of Educational Equality among homeschoolers!
